Lolita D. dela Cruz-Gillberg, MBA, CPA

Lolita Gillberg always expressed hopes to accomplish her visions of PIDC. With her extensive experience and solid background in the field of accountancy, auditing and financial management, she hopes to offer dynamism, new perspectives and efficiency for PIDC, specifically in running her affairs in the Philippine Independence Celebration Committee.

Gillberg is a recipient of a "National Lifetime Achievement" award given by the National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accountants in its July 2003 Convention in Seattle. She is wholeheartedly devoting her time to serve the Filipino community.

Gillberg, a magna cum laude graduate, has an MBA in financial management and a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. She has over 30 years of accounting, management information systems audit, financial management and auditing experience. She worked as an auditor at the Office of Internal Oversight Services at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in 1994-1997. At the United Nations, she conducted 3 major audits and her audit reports were submitted to the General Assembly who had adopted resolutions to implement her recommendations as contained in her reports. These audit reports are now official UN documents. In 1997-1998, she was the CFO of the United Nations Observers Mission in Liberia (UNOMIL), a peace-keeping mission of the UN in Liberia. She also worked as Audit Specialist at UNDP. Gillberg also worked as an Audit Manager for one of the "Big Five" accounting firm, Price Waterhouse in Sweden and Norway for seven years from 1985-1992. She pioneered the Computer Information Systems Audit Group in Sweden which she headed from 1989-1992.

Gillberg also is a CPA in Sweden having passed the examination at the Stockholm University where she studied Swedish law. In 1992, she started her own accounting and auditing firm, GILLBECO, where she was the principal owner. Currently, together with her husband, Gunnar Gillberg, are both Joint Venture partners of Distantia Nordwork, a company based in Sweden with international offices in Finland, Holland, Lithuania and British of Isles

Gillberg is the past auditor of PICC 2003, current auditor of NaFFAA Eastern Region and NaFFAA-New York State. She is the past President of the Association of Filipino American Accountants (AFAA) over 4 years. She is a lifetime member of the NCPACA Board of Councilors. She was former Vice-President for External Affairs of the National Council of Philippine American CPAs (NCPACA), an umbrella organization of . Gillberg was the PIDC Secretariat Coordinator in 1996 and was an active organizer of the Centennial celebration. In 2000 she served as PIDC auditor where she proved to have carried out her audit work diligently and professionally.

Gillberg received numerous awards for her involvement in community affairs and also, commendations from professional associations in Sweden and USA. In May 1995, she was named "Businesswoman of the Year" by a women's organization in Sweden, "Kvinnor och Foretag" ("Women and Company"). In September 2002, Gillberg, together with other well known women such as famed author, Judy Blume, AOL Time Warner Foundation President Kathy Bushkin, Avon Products CEO Andrea Jung, Muriel Siebert, the first woman to own a seat at the NYSE and US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O' Connor were recognized by Trickle Up Program, Inc. as one of the "100 Women of Accomplishments". Gillberg is currently working as Director of Finance and Administration at Trickle Up Program, Inc., an international nonprofit organization which provides seed capital to the poorest of the poor in Asia (including the Philippines), Africa, Latin America as well as the U.S. Over a period of ten years, Trickle Up had more than 10,200 businesses started and provided more than $1 million grants to the poorest of the poor in the Philippines.

Gillberg was born in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija and has lived in Stockholm, Sweden for about ten years. She is married to Gunnar Gillberg and they have one son, Reginald. The family resides in New Rochelle, New York.
